A DAY AT THE RACES
Getting the feel for country life can’t be had by walking into the local Safeway or Dan Murphy’s. We’ve tried a lot of Dan Murphy’s so, trust us, they’re all the same. No, to immerse yourself in the local lexicon, there’s no better start then the local racetrack . Now Tamika, I will boast freely, is a tinny as a biscuit tin when it comes to betting on, well, just about anything. She has a “Divine Quality†about her selections, so to speak. She is fearless, not always on the money, but has a nose for it. So when the local races came to Benalla, we were off!

The locals were super friendly, happily admitting us to the members pavilion on the promise of buying a few drinks from the bar (yeah, that was hard). Tamika wasn’t in her best form that day, but the weather was brilliant and, as she said, “It was a good day for drinking.â€
