When you’re sharing good news, the words are easy to find. With sad news, every word is leaden with finality, an acknowledgement of an awful reality, confronting loss and grief. Tamika and I have parted ways – for now at least. It’s not about the love. Our goodbyes? Tom Hanks and Helen Hunt in the rain (Castaway) comes close. Tamika has to reclaim a part of her life denied through events and circumstances nearly 30 years ago. Unrealized goals and ambitions need to be at least attempted – is this as good as it gets? If not now, the doubt and frustration would continue to white ant our relationship.
The future? We said to each other on that last morning, “It’s goodbye – for now.” We know what we have, what we share, the ‘in-to-me-see’ that makes it so special. For now, we’re living separate lives. My journey will continue, Tamika will find her feet on unfamiliar ground. Time…..it’s just time.
